The first separate electric power stations appeared on the territory of Kuban region at the beginning of the 20th century. The history of electric power system on the territory of Kuban region started from the appearance of "Vodeltram" association. It was the starting point for the development of electricity networks in Krasnodar city. The association of power industry and electrification was founded in 1944 on the base of Krasnodar electric nets by uniting the separate electric wire enterprises.
OJSC was founded in 1993 in accordance with RF legislation about privatization of state and municipal enterprises and associations on the base of shareholding and privatization of "Krasnodarenergo".
The Issuer was supposed to operate for indefinite period of time for profit earning by offering the service of supplying consumers of Krasnodar region and republic of Adigeya with electric power and it provided consumers living in Krasnodar city with heat energy as well.
On December 30, 2005 the extra general meeting of shareholders of OJSC "Kubanenergo" accepted the decision about reorganization of the association by separating the following subsidiaries from it:
- OJSC "Kuban generating company": nominal capital included generating capacities of the association ("Krasnodar heat power station" and small hydro-power stations)
- OJSC "Kuban main electrical systems" : nominal capital was formed by electricity net establishments belonging to the Unified National Electric System (the voltage of which is 220 kV and higher)
- OJSC "Kubanenergosbyt" as a guaranteeing supplier of electric power as well as purchase of electric power on the wholesale market and its transmission to the ultimate consumers.
On July 1, 2006 OJSC "Kuban generating company" and OJSC "Kubanenergosbyt" were registrated. On September 1, 2006 OJSC "Kuban main electrical systems" was registrated.
The scope of the Company’s activities extends to the transmission and distribution of electric power through the wiring systems with the voltage of 110 kV and lower.
